We’re a small, family run business based in Paignton, South Devon. We’ve grown from a love of music and celebration into a full-blown passion for creating amazing experiences from weddings and parties to school proms and everything in between.

Hi I'm John
My love for music started as a young child. I was given the great honour of being “The DJ” at my sisters wedding at age 7. Ok, so it was slightly different back then. I sat there with all the old vinyl stacked up playing them on a classic HIFI system, changing them over album after album. Everyone was dancing and I was living my best life. As a teenager I bought my first set of turntables and my passion for music grew and grew.
I worked in catering for many years which I enjoyed however it didn’t give me that buzz. I had dreamed of having my own mobile disco business for many years and my wife and mother-in-law encouraged me to go for it. I had surrounded myself with music from all genres for 40 years and I knew it was time to turn my love of music into a career.
A memory to treasure.
My mother-in-law Pat took the delivery of my new DJ equipment at her house and I still remember her excitement to this day. She had already moved everything in her kitchen so I could test my set up. Baring in mind this was my first time setting up the booth, stand, mixer and lighting rig; after only ten minutes, Pat shouted me from the lounge checking if I was ready yet as she was keen for a dance. She then started heckling me about what music she would like. In a cul de sac in Exeter, City Beats Disco had been born for less than an hour and there we are in the kitchen, lighting rig in full motion, sound system pumping and Pat bringing out her best moves to her favourite music – Motown. I often look back at that video, it reminds me how much Pat inspired me and the happiness she brought to our lives. Her legacy will always live on!

Hi, I’m John. I’m of course the guy behind the decks but I’m also the one helping setting the tone for your entire celebration. With a passion for music and a natural talent for reading the room, I bring the energy, the emotion, and the perfect playlist to every event. From your grand entrance to your first dance, I take the time to plan every detail with you, making sure the setup is seamless, the timings feel right, and the soundtrack tells your story. Whether it’s a surprise moment, a throwback hit, or that one song you both love, I’ll make sure I have it covered.

Hey, I’m Gem, a wedding celebrant, your friendly wedding guide and the excitable voice behind the emails. I’ll be the one ensuring you feel relaxed and supported every step of the way with heaps of wedding knowledge to help with any questions you may have.
I still remember the time I booked a DJ who didn’t ask us anything about our music and then turned up late. It left me feeling like we were just another booking and that’s never how you will feel when you book with us, because your celebration should be every bit as amazing as you’ve imagined.

From a young age, Nathan has been fascinated by lighting, music and all things theatre. Whether he’s behind a lighting desk or programming lights to your first dance song, he’s all about the details. When he’s not at the theatre, he’s at home creating custom lighting to make your party shine.
